this is david kilgour of the clean's first record, released in 1994 on flying nun. recorded just shortly after the recording of the the clean resurgence album modern rock. this sound is much safer and straight-forward than the clean even in this particular era, but kilgour's hip, airy, and carefree writing style makes up for that fact. even if the reliance on guitars makes the songs a little altarna-dad-rock, the songs are still stronger than what the clean has put out in recent years.
